The Chardonnay “Monteriolo” by Coppo is an intense, elegant, and complex white wine, made with pure Chardonnay. The noble Burgundy grape variety has been present in Piemonte since the early 1800s and, thanks to favorable pedoclimatic conditions, it has adapted very well, producing grapes of excellent quality. The French inspiration of the wine is also reflected in a typically Burgundian winemaking choice, which gives it a rather international profile, making it particularly appreciated by those who prefer a soft, rich, and fruity taste, enhanced by sensations of vanilla and spices typical of aging in wood.
“Monteriolo” Chardonnay is produced by the historic winery Coppo, a reality present in the Canelli area of Piemonte since the early 1900s, which offers a range of high-quality labels, both made with traditional indigenous grape varieties and with the main international varieties. The Chardonnay vineyards enjoy a sunny and cool exposure facing south and southeast, at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level. The grape variety has adapted very well to the climate and to the soils composed of calcareous-clay marls with the presence of silt. The healthiest and ripest grapes are selected directly in the vineyard during the harvest and transported to the winery where they undergo fermentation directly in French oak barrels. The wine always ages in wood for a period of 9 months sur lies with frequent bâtonnage, in order to enrich its structure and aromatic profile.
The white Chardonnay “Monteriolo” by Coppo is a wine that delights the senses from the very first sip. Due to its characteristics, it pairs very well with fish in sauce, delicate white meats, and medium-aged soft cheeses. With a beautiful light yellow color and bright golden reflections, it seduces with intense and broad aromas, reminiscent of yellow-fleshed fruit, citrus zest, floral hints, notes of hazelnut, toasted dried fruit, pain brioche, vanilla, sweet spices, and blonde tobacco. The entry on the palate is harmonious and soft, with a rich fruit and a creamy, persistent sip, which extends towards a long, savory finish with pleasant freshness.
