Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore Tenuta Anfosso 2023

The Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore from Tenuta Anfosso is a dive between the Mediterranean Sea and the vine-covered slopes of Liguria. Tenuta Anfosso is indeed located in the province of Imperia, on the Ponente Riviera, the native land of Rossese, to which they have completely dedicated their passion and their lives. The vineyards stretch across spectacular slopes, supported and divided by dry stone walls historically present in the family holdings, dating back to the 1800s. Some vines testify to the winemaking activity since 1888, the year Giacomo Anfosso completely replanted the Poggio Pini vineyard in Soldano.

The grapes of Tenuta Anfosso Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore all come from vineyards located between Soldano and San Biagio della Cima, on the slopes leading down to the sea and enjoying favorable climatic conditions, caressed by the libeccio and scirocco winds. The vines root in soils characterized by red clay of marls and limestone, mixed with organic residues. Some plants are also over 30 years old and are cultivated using only copper and sulfur as herbicides. A portion of the grapes is not destemmed, and fermentation occurs with yeastsselected indigenous yeasts and the contact with the skins lasts 7/8 days. The subsequent aging of 9 months takes place in steel tanks.

The Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore reveals the character of Tenuta Anfosso: rooted in tradition but with an eye to the future. The garnet red is gentle, subtle. In the glass, the most intense note is reminiscent of the Mediterranean scrub, with its aromas of aromatic herbs and plants that release menthol notes to the wind. There are also hints of licorice and some small red forest fruits. On the palate, it is balanced, light, with good acidity and a savory finish that recalls the waves crashing on the Ligurian shores, in the incessant interaction between all the rich natural elements present in this small and incredible Italian region.
