Syrah 'Per Sempre' Tua Rita 2019

The Syrah "Per Sempre" represents the pinnacle of excellence of the Tua Rita winery. It is a limited production of a few high-quality bottles, made out of love for this fascinating variety from the Rhône Valley. It is a Syrah aged in barrique, intense and deep, demonstrating how the grape variety has adapted well to the warm and breezy climate of the Metalliferous Hills area of Val di Cornia. Its bouquet of ripe fruit and spices is marked by a clear mineral presence typical of the terroir.

The wine "Per Sempre" comes from a Syrah vineyard planted in a spurred cordon, with a planting density of 8500 vines per hectare and managed under organic farming. The vineyard is located in the area between the Tyrrhenian Sea coastline and the Metalliferous Hills. The soils, predominantly composed of clay, with abundant skeleton presence, are very rich in minerals and give the wines a particular iron and saline territorial connotation. After manual harvesting, the grapes are sent for spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts that take place in oak barrels. The wine matures for a period of 20-22 months in barrique of first passage French oak. It is bottled in summer and left to rest in the cellar for a few more months before being put on sale.

The Syrah "Per Sempre" represents the heart wine of Tua Rita. The label produced exclusively out of passion for Syrah. After many years of cultivation and experiments, the wine finally saw the light, only when the fruit of the vineyard was so rich and intense, that we were sure we could create a great wine. In the glass, it has a dark ruby color. On the nose, it expresses mature aromas of currants, blackberries, sour cherries, plum jam, elegant spicy notes, toasted hints of coffee, and nuances of blonde tobacco. On the palate, it has a significant structure, a dense body, with deep and persistent fruit, enriched during the sip with refined tertiary notes. The tannic texture is dense and evolved, the finish closes on a balanced freshness, enhanced by savory and mineral sensations.
