Maule Angiolino - La Biancara

Angiolino Maule is the owner of the La Biancara winery and his story began in 1988 when he left his job as a pizza maker to buy 6 hectares of hillside in the Sorio di Gambellara area between Verona and Vicenza, not far from the volcanic lands of the Lessinia park. Today the winery, still run by Angiolino with the help of his sons and his wife Rosamaria, has 20 hectares of vineyards with the addition of other vineyards in Sossano in the Iberian hills.

Angiolino's natural philosophy has not changed and his charismatic and controversial character enables him to produce authentic wines, pure expressions of a great territory that he knows how to listen to and convey in wine. 20 years ago, La Biancara was able to challenge traditional trends and embark on a new and arduous path, which has borne fruit in recent years. Initially seen as a maniac for his extreme ideologies, today Angiolino is the president and founder of the Vinnatur association, which includes more than 150 artisan producers, and is considered one of the leading figures in the world of wine produced as it used to be in the past.

According to Angiolino, man does not hinder or intervene in the wine production process, but only accompanies it. The rules include no herbicides or chemical fertilisers, only a low use of copper and sulphur, only indigenous yeasts, no use of added sulphites and no filtering or intervening processes on the must. This gives rise to pure and sincere expressions that express the true authenticity of the land, giving what Angiolino calls "the good wine".
