Berritta Dorgali

The Berritta Dorgali winery represents a manifestation of territoriality and independence in Sardinian land, an estate in the Dorgali area, in the province of Nuoro, which has Cannonau as its varietal foundation. For several generations, the Berritta family has been dedicated to the cultivation of vines and olives in this unspoiled area of Sardinia, precisely in the Oddoene valley. The winery was officially founded by winemaker Antonio Berritta, who since the second half of the last century has been committed to enhancing his land, constantly pursuing the goal of unleashing its full qualitative potential. Berritta is also a member of FIVI, the Italian federation that aims to protect and enhance independent producers.

The hectares of vineyards cultivated by the Berritta estate in Dorgali are about 20, entirely managed under certified organic regime and strongly influenced by proximity to the sea. The varietal platform includes the indigenous Cannonau, which alone represents 75% of the surface vineyard, Vermentino, and Panzale, as well as small percentages of the international grape variety Syrah, the only "foreigner". These varieties are grown on calcareous soils of granitic nature at high altitudes, which in certain parcels reach up to 450 meters above sea level. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand in boxes, and in the winery, the fermentations are entrusted to indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The subsequent aging periods always take place in steel or in cement tanks or wooden barrels of various sizes and types, depending on the label in question. The value that always guides the production approach of the estate is nonetheless that of maximum respect for tradition.

The production of the Berritta winery in Dorgali is limited, represented by a few bottles but numerous labels. The wines, obtained almost exclusively from the traditional grape varieties of the Dorgali area, reflect Antonio Berritta's love for his land. In addition to the various Cannonau, the core of the estate's production, stands out the Panzale, a sought-after interpretation of the rare indigenous white grape variety of the same name.
